6-32 Thread Starting Tap

The 6-32 thread starting tap can be used for cutting new threads or to clean up damaged threads in a previously tapped hole.  This tap has several tapered threads at the end to guide the tap into the hole and begin cutting threads.  Recommeneded for steel, iron, stainless steel, nickel, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper and plastic.  Be sure to use lubricant and occasionally back the tap out to clear out shavings during usage.  

These taps are made of uncoated high-speed steel and are for use on most metals and plastics. Also known as hand taps, use them with a tap wrench.  Taps for starting threads have a taper chamfer with 7-10 tapered threads at the tip to guide the tap into the hole.
