Designed with the FIRST Tech Challenge in mind, this dimmable LED Headlight helps to illuminate the scenes that a robot's optics systems gathers visual data from—whether that optics system is a basic webcam, or high-end AI camera (like the HuskyLens).
Controlling this LED Headlight is as easy as controlling a servo! Just plug it into a servo port, and you’ll get fine-grained PWM control of the LED brightness. This allows you to dial-in the light for your computer-vision in a snap.
Providing consistent lighting to your robot increases the repeatability of its optic-centric actions during autonomous operation. The LED Headlight’s level of illumination is perfect for being able to be seen across a game field without being so bright you can’t look directly at it.
The Headlight possesses two each of TJC8 connector ports and JST-PH connector ports. While they are FH-MC, all ports can act as either input or output ports, and all ports use PWM as their communication protocol.
Two TJC8 ports across two opposite sides allow for signals and power to be delivered to the Headlight via your servo wiring setup. The Headlight also has JST PH ports for connecting to controllers like the REV Control Hub. These ports are located such that when the Headlight is placed over another component’s 14mm hole, the JST PH ports are accessible through the hole.
The Headlight possesses four M4 thru-holes on the goBILDA® 32mm square pattern. Each thru-hole has a hex counterbore for the easy capture of hex head screws and locknuts.
